As a non-governmental, non-profit making and interdenominational organization, Eden Readers Commission of Nigeria {ERCON} is categorically made up of the following units, function and powers:
1. Education and information unit:
Charged with the responsibilities of fostering the awareness on various matters of Human existence as it concerns - religious, political, social, health, cultural and economical facets of the society through seminars, training, and distribution of free reading materials.
2. Youth empowerment and counseling unit:
Handles the aspect of training and integral development of young people through holding or organizing skill acquisition activities that aim at supporting youth mental, social, moral and physical growth – building their capacity to become self-employed, self-sustaining and living a healthy lifestyle through summits, workshop and clinics.
3. Human resource/Disease prevention & control unit:
Is a center for intense reading, hard work and continuous research activities by our trained staffs in collaboration with professional, intellectual and experienced resource persons and institutions on basic issues of life as it affects health related problems – including HIV/AIDS and other sexually transmitted diseases.
4. Information and Communication Technology Unit:
The satisfactory operation and control of business systems and the transformation of educational and health institutions to give quality service delivery to the human persons, specifically rural people rest to a great extent on information or data that’s available. This unit of ERCON is out to give the local people of the described caliber opportunity to increase their ability to the used of ICT tools effectively and the enjoyment of the benefits thereof, with the view to enhancing their literacy status and technical skills; and to reduce their susceptibility level to the threat of illiteracy, ignorance, poverty and disease, with a thematic focus on bringing the digital gap and relieving these people of this present stress of neglect by providing and installing the necessary information technology infrastructures and equipments that have been lacking in these local areas up to now. We welcome ICT partners, computers soft and hardware and financial donors to collaborate with us in this sector.
5. Outreach and community development unit:
Is saddled with the work of reaching out to local communities and other nook and crannies of cities with humanitarian assistance in the form of reading and writing materials, food, medicines, other relief facilities and fund for the purpose of poverty alleviation, totally renewed and transformed socioeconomic, moral, cultural, political equity and well – being of all persons.
The four units that make up the commission are governed by the president (founder) and other selected officials: Vice president general secretary and assistant, public relation officer treasurer (accountant), financial secretary, programme director, board of trustees and chairman, committee body and chairman and other valuable members. All must alongside the president although he is the administrative head of the commission with an exclusive and independent office work in solidarity, with equity, equality, honesty and accountability in discharge of duties of their respective offices.
